High Voltage Electrician Helper

o Comply with the technical requirements, specifications, and design limits for all substation equipment through with power flows, such as power circuit breakers, transformers, bus and cable, grounding systems, trench and conduit systems, building and yard lighting systems, station service, station batteries, metal-clad switchgear, circuit interrupters, and motor-operated and manual disconnect and grounding switches. o Assist in investigations of substation equipment failures and interruptions to ascertain cause of failure and/or interruptions. o Use technical documents and substation drawings, such as equipment drawings, control board drawings, instruction books, tests records, equipment records, etc., to ascertain proper connection, operation and maintenance of substation electrical equipment.o Assist in inspection of new installations and conducts performance tests of new equipment prior to acceptance for operations. o Assist in the execution of a comprehensive program of preventative maintenance for electrical systems within the substations, in accordance with standard procedures. You must be reliable and dependable (as noted in KSA #1) to be considered for this position. For High Voltage Electrician Helper (Substation 3rd Class), an applicant must demonstrate a level of knowledge, skills, and abilities and /or competencies in the job elements which include performing basic tasks of electrical work. Examples of qualified experience would include the application of Electrical Theory and/or the use of basic test equipment such as ohmmeters, ammeters, and multi-meters in order to perform low-level troubleshooting of common electrical malfunctions on a limited range of types of electrical equipment and/or components. For High Voltage Electrician Helper (Substation 2nd Class), a level of knowledge, skills, and abilities and/ or competencies in the job elements which include performing all common tasks of a high voltage electrician with moderate supervision. Has experience of on the job training, completing typical tasks including using common electrical tools, schematics, and prints for installation of high voltage substation equipment and/or controls, as well as making day to day electrical repairs. Has shown course completion of some type of formal training which includes instruction on high-voltage electrical work, in-residence and/ or correspondence courses focusing on high-voltage substation equipment. For High Voltage Electrician Helper (Substation 1st Class), a level of knowledge, skills, and abilities and/or competencies in the job elements which include performing all common and the most complex aspects of high-voltage electrical work which would include print reading, trouble-shooting, installation of substation electrical equipment, and utilizing tools and equipment of the utility trade. Licensed Journeyman Level Personnel may fall within this category from another line of electrical background. Shows a full range of knowledge of high-voltage electrical work through coursework, on the job experience and/or training programs. Has instructed lower level personnel or employees in various aspects of the utility trade.
